But I did wonder what I would pick from the delightful Lululemon range if I actually did take a size 16 in my beloved jeans. Every top I measured my new one against was the same size or bigger.
Maybe it was a sample size or a travel size like those tiny toothpastes and shampoos you can buy if you are packing to go away and are restricted in the amount of fluid you can take on board an aeroplane.
If the size 12 at Lululemon was the same as my actual Australian size 12 tops, I must assume the 2 is a 2, not the 6 they claim it to be. Where are all the size 2 customers?
It makes no sense to me. Lana Hirschowitz is a blogger, writer and reforming toast lover. You can follow her on Facebook. To join the conversation, please log in. Don't have an account? I wonder if it's mainly the smaller sizes that run small. True to size, maybe even slightly big, but like Parsley, I'm on the larger end of the range.
I wear 10 in their tanks and yoga pants. I have a few items from them. Two jackets which I find snug, a tank top true to size. My daughters have shorts and pants and they are true to size. Yeah, I would agree wtih Krish so it sounds as if they are smaller at the small end. I have a few things from there, but no jackets. Rae, I'm typically an 8 in tops and a 4 or 6 in bottoms, and that is true in Lululemon too. I do like my workout stuff snug. Thanks so much for the info - especially the note that the items wear really well.
It seems like many think they run small I recommend a visit. Some of the sizing is a preference the SAs seem to prefer things tighter than I do, hence the pair of yoga pants I have in a 6 but wish they were an 8. But I've found some jackets slightly more generously sized than I might have expected. It's not entirely unpredictable, but there's enough inconsistency that I'd want to try their items on to get a sense of specific items' fit.
I find their items both TTS and highly consistent. The items with the thicker, regular luon fabric are more forgiving when they are snugger than the thinner materials luon light, luxtreme, etc.
I find the quality fantastic. I would recommend a trip to the store and try tops and bottoms. I feel then you would know your size and would be safe ordering. Their clothes do wear well -- I've got LuLuLemon pants that are nearly over ten years old and still going -- and I'm a good one to ask because I lived two blocks from LuLuLemon ground zero when it first opened twelve or fifteen years ago.
Over the years I've picked up quite a lot from there. I've never had an item die an untimely death, and I put the stuff in the dryer and everything.
A testament to the quality of their merchandise is the fact that every single suburban soccer mom in Vancouver's lower mainland owns at least one pair of LuLuLemon sweats and one of their scuba hoodies.
I don't think I'm exaggerating. It's like an epidemic. It's one of the reasons I no longer shop there Well, that and I can't stand their salespeople. But you can't knock the quality and style of their yoga gear -- it's the best.
Most of it's supposed to be skin-tight. One guy I know lovingly describes LuLuLemon yoga pants as "a bra for a woman's butt". The gals in the shop always try to get you to buy stuff in a size smaller than you think you need, and forget wearing anything but thong underpants with them, because they want the sweatpants to go right up the crack of your rear. Did everything stay put, or did it slide up or down?
Do you feel like you need to adjust anything? If anything shifts around too much, you may want to try a smaller size. If the fabric is shiny at the hips or thighs when you are standing normally, you should probably size up. Look at the tights above and notice are overstretched across the front of the hips, creating a wavy pattern. They are too small! Ideally, when you are standing up straight in a neutral stance, the fabric should fall smoothly across the front of the hips, like this:.
In this photo, you can see the fabric lays smoothly across the hips, with no extra wrinkling or signs of overstretching. These fit perfectly! Make sure you check the tag first to see what kind of support and coverage to expect.
If you are a full-busted lady and you want to try a style with lower coverage, try a size up from your usual lulu bra size. They have a ton of different styles with higher and lower coverage to accommodate a wide range of cup sizes.
